Lions Club of Singapore (LCS) Garden City
Lions Club of Singapore Garden City is one of the 75 Lions clubs in Singapore, which is an extension of the Lions Club International, USA.
Lions Club International was founded in 1916 by Mr Melvin Jones, USA. Members are called “Lions”. Lions Club is the world’s largest service club organization with 46,000 clubs and 1.35 million members worldwide. The lions serve their communities, meeting humanitarian needs, promote peace and international understandings through Lions clubs.
Lions are known for their Sight Conservation and working with the blind. These are the major service activities for the Lions organization.
LCS Garden City is a member of the Lions Save Sight Centre in Singapore.
The Lions Save Sight Centre’s mission is the prevention of blindness with strong emphasis on diabetes retinopathy, a blinding complication of diabetes. The Centre also create awareness on the prevention of blindness due to other causes, such as cataract, corneal diseases and glaucoma.
